Iceland Day 5 - Egilstadir -> Jokulsarglijufur -> Husavik

Day 5 - Egilstadir -> Jokulsarglijufur -> Husavik

This route took about 370.1km

On the way to Jokulsargljufur

The deers were looking towards our way, do you know why?

It was the only resturant we could find along the long morning driving route. The lunch was simple but satisfying. I remembered I took the catfish. My friends had lamb chops and some did have beefs.

After the lunch, we were ready to start the journey. Just before starting the car, I looked into the opposite side which should be a wild camp site. The sheeps were all lovely. We could see the "artificial" natural shelter for the sheep's gathering. The weather was good with mild sunlight and light wind. Awhile, we get started and headed to Jokusargljufur National Park.

Dettifoss waterfall video

Dettifoss is a waterfall to feel. It is the largest waterfall in Europe. Now "Click" to feel!

Dettifoss waterfall photos

Human being is so miniaturized to the nature. When we stand by the side, feel and think... Our BIG, IMPORTANT, URGENT things are just so obviously so-so.

Along the leaving route to Dettifoss Waterfall

We continuously looked back while leaving. Didn't know whether they are some branch small waterfalls. However, they were adequate to draw our attentions to take some photos. The scenes in Iceland are just so abundant and casual. There were few road signs with indication. We always passed major scenes and had to drive back. At first, we were quite frustrated. However, that was the key to achieve such clean and un-polluted environment. Excellent! Just leave it as it is!!!

Ásbyrgi Canyon

Asbyrgi Canyon is a legendary glorious tree-filled canyon. It was actually carved out by a huge glacier flood some 2,500 years ago.

The rocks were all funny with special structure. We took a round trip there. Though, they were all unique and worth visiting, there were only few people. As I had mentioned, scenic places were abundant here. No congestion here!

Husavik, the Village of Whale

This place is famous for whale watching. However, we had got a packed schedule and had to scarified this. Never mind, after some years, we may be back. Who knows?

Dining place

Iceland Beers

It was a late evening. We were all hungry. Food, as usual, didn't disappoint us. Again, as usual, we were always the last one or two to have dinner in the restaurant. We still need to seek our cottage after dinner. Umm... The cottage had a kitchen. Therefore, we had to catch time to have some food for the kitchen.

Finally, we were quite late to the cottage that night as we had to take time for the searching. After unloading the luggage, we immediately drove out to the most nearby fuel station/convenient shop to get some food. Bread, meat, milk, soft drinks...etc. They are for the next morning's breakfast.

Inside the cottage

This was a small place with 2 small bedrooms and one small dining area. Despite its size, it had got a magnificent view. Remembered that evening...Of course, I didn't understand Iceland language. However, through the whole evening till late night, the radio had broadcast with MJ hits. Don't know why? Strange... May be the DJ there loved MJ much? Next evening, when we were back to hotel Kea in Akureyri. I turned on CNN and I got the news...MJ had gone!
